Last week I came face-to-face with a shark, and not only survived it, but loved the experience!

As a finalist in Microsoft Store and H&R Block’s My Business Mentor competition, I had the privilege of flying to Sydney for a mentoring session with Naomi Simson. She is the ‘Red Shark’ on Channel Ten’s Shark Tank, and the Founding Director of RedBalloon—an online experience gift retailer. I also got to spend time with Microsoft Store and H&R Block obtaining helpful small business advice.

It was exciting to meet Naomi! Her experiences with RedBalloon and other start-ups meant she had plenty of wisdom and insight to share. Naomi asked many questions and provided helpful ideas for me to consider as I continue making efforts to grow Noteworthy Cards.

I am very thankful to Naomi, Microsoft Store and H&R Block for this valuable opportunity. I’m looking forward to implementing the new ideas, and I hope that Noteworthy Cards will be able to continually sell more cards and make an increasing impact for people suffering in poverty.

As an added bonus, I was awarded a runner up prize of $1,000 worth of H&R Block taxation services! Thank you, H&R Block!

It was also great to meet the other My Business Mentor finalists and hear about their business ventures. I wish them much success as they continue their great work!
