Noteworthy Cards is one year old today! We thought this would be an ideal time to reflect on our journey so far and thank everyone who has supported the cause. Below are the highlights from our first 12 months.
APRIL 6, 2018
Noteworthy Cards launched on April 6, 2018. It was an exciting time for our Founder, James Agnew, as he unveiled the social enterprise after almost a year in development. James was pleased that many people embraced the idea of buying greeting cards that make a difference for people suffering in poverty.
Our debut range of cards was the Freedom Collection. These cards are simple, elegant, fun and beautiful. Each card is available in eight different colours, so you can choose the perfect colour for any occasion. The Freedom Collection is all about sharing thoughtful words with the people you love.

Two months later we launched a new range of greeting cards thanks to the witty mind of Joel Zerner. The Zerner Collection, printed on brown recycled card, comprises four novelty greeting cards that are sure to be received with a laugh. From a multi-purpose greeting card to a never-ending birthday card, you can have lots of fun giving these cards to your friends and family.
Joel is a web developer in Adelaide who loves board games, Mexican food and dad jokes. He was pleased to contribute to Noteworthy Cards because he wants to share his ideas and make a difference for people in need.
AUGUST 1, 2018
Within four months of launching, we reached our first milestone of selling 1,000 cards! We were pleased to have made a great start towards covering our initial business costs.
AUGUST 6, 2018
We then launched a range of greeting cards featuring beautiful scenic photography by Jackson Turner. Shot on 35mm film during Jackson’s travels around the world, the Turner Collection brought an international flavour to Noteworthy Cards. With blank insides, these cards can be used for any occasion.
Jackson is a travel enthusiast with a love of nature, scuba diving and photography. He was excited to contribute to Noteworthy Cards because he likes to support good causes—especially those that help people in need while being environmentally friendly.
AUGUST 29, 2018
A few weeks later we partnered with Sarah Keane Designs to launch a bright and charming collection of illustrated greeting cards. The Keane Collection is a range of creative and colourful cards with blank insides, making them ideal for any occasion.
Sarah is a mixed media artist in Adelaide who loves to create artwork using all sorts of mediums. She’s most inspired by colour, textiles, pattern and nature. Sarah was excited to contribute to Noteworthy Cards because she loves seeing her creativity used to help people and the planet.
SEPTEMBER 10, 2018
In September we posted a promotional video on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and asked our followers to share it on their social media platforms so that thousands of people could hear about our poverty-fighting greeting cards. We’re very thankful for everyone who participated in our social media campaign, and we invite others to share the video at any time!
OCTOBER 14, 2018
We then collaborated with artist Carolyn O’Neill to launch a new range of illustrated greeting cards. The O’Neill Collection is a curated series of expressive, abstract art cards that are perfect for any occasion.
Carolyn is an Australian painter and mixed media artist whose main medium is oil on canvas. She creates paintings that express rich layers of emotion and inspire rest, contemplation and interpretation. Carolyn felt honoured to contribute to Noteworthy Cards because she believes it is an extraordinary initiative, and feels privileged that her artwork is being used to help alleviate poverty.
DECEMBER 5, 2018
Leading up to Christmas we launched a fun range of greeting cards illustrated by the talented Elliot Huang. The Huang Collection is a cute and colourful range of illustrated animal cards that are suitable for celebrations and Christmas greetings.
Elliot is an illustrator from Adelaide who loves traditional and digital media, and uses a mix of both in her work. She also likes to incorporate little stories with her illustrations where she can. Elliot teamed up with Noteworthy Cards because she loves to contribute to positive change in the world, especially when she can do it while creatively expressing herself.
On that same day we reached our next milestone of selling 2,000 cards! This brought us really close to covering our initial business costs, which was a goal we had hoped to achieve by the end of the year so we could fund life-changing gifts at Christmas.
DECEMBER 15, 2018
By the middle of December our income surpassed our initial business costs of almost $6,000, and days later we were able to donate $150 of profits to TEAR Australia to fund the first of many life-changing gifts! We donated those profits towards nine Useful Gifts that support community, education, good food, good health, safe water and sanitation in multiple countries around the world. This was easily our favourite milestone so far!

And here we are, 12 months later, with 2,410 cards sold and $150 of profits donated towards 9 life-changing gifts for people suffering in poverty.
Late last year we needed to restock our supplies of cards and envelopes, and we’ve since been progressively covering those expenses, but we’re pleased to report that we’re now getting close to funding the next batch of life-changing gifts!
THANK YOU!
Noteworthy Cards is a team effort, and we want to thank every person who has contributed in any way. From our customers who purchased cards, to the creatives who collaborated on card ranges, to our followers who shared social media posts, and everyone else in between, each person has helped make a life-changing difference for people suffering in poverty.
We would specifically like to thank Arte Grafica Printing, Regal Craft and Tennant Schultz Chartered Accountants who proudly support us with discounted products and services, as well as Soul City Roasters and Cafe Outside The Square who sell a selection of our cards in their cafes.
This is only the beginning. We’re looking forward to launching new ranges of cards in the future, we’re continually working to grow our customer base, and we’re excited to see how many life-changing gifts we can fund in the next 12 months. Together, we can make a difference!
